Nice answer Kelly!! i always found it hard to turn down food when I went to my ex's house (he was Dominican) his mother would be insulted if i showed up and didn't want to eat.. i mean... did she think i didnt eat at home and came to her house hungry all the time? ; )
i did find that was the best solution, when we stayed there, to eat what she cooked and not eat anything else.. sounds stupid- but a lot of the "ethnic" dishes aren't too bad when eaten in moderation.. i noticed she said that she eats a lot of breads, pastries, etc... maybe when she goes home she can eat just what mom cooks (in moderation) and make sure she avoids the carby processed stuff.. bring fruit and healthy granola bars and have those instead..
way easier said than done tho!!! i know i had a hard time saying NO.. his mother would cry later on "she doesn't like my cooking... why doesnt she like it???".. not a matter of NOT liking it.. liking it TOO much! lol
i miss his mother.. just not him! haha!
